The Visitor Information Centre is located at the Junction of Highways 16 & 40 East on the Trans-Canada Yellowhead Highway. Fred Light Museum (Battleford Visitor Information Centre) is open from May long weekend to September long weekend from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The museum serves as a tourist information centre for the Town of Battleford. Located at 11 -20th Street East in the Town of Battleford. Call (306) 937-7111. Closed from September to May. When in The Battlefords, tune to Tourism Radio 100.5 FM for information on festivals, events and attractions. ClimateThe weather in The Battlefords is generally dry and sunny. Summer daytime temperatures range from 18 °C to 35 °C (65 °F to 95 °F). Evenings are cool, requiring a light sweater or jacket. Winter temperatures vary from +5 °C to -30 °C (41 °F to -22 °F). Sufficient snowfall also makes it ideal for winter activities and sports. Currency ExchangeThe currency system is based on Canadian dollars and cents. U.S. currency can be exchanged at any bank, credit union or trust company. Most businesses accept U.S. currency at the current exchange rate. Liquor LawsThe minimum age for consumption of alcohol in Saskatchewan is 19 years. Alcohol, beer and wine are sold in government liquor stores and cold beer and wine stores in several locations. A provincial tax of 5% is assessed on all goods with the exception of food, restaurant meals and children's clothing. SmokingThe City of North Battleford and The Town of Battleford are both smoke-free communities which makes all public places and private clubs smoke-free. This includes bars, nightclubs, bingos, bowling centres, private clubs & restaurants. In addition, smoking is not allowed in outdoor seating areas associated with these establishments or in temporary tent shelters at public events. TransportationAir ServiceThe North Battleford Cameron McIntosh Airport (YQW) is located 5 minutes from the City Centre. There are no scheduled commercial flights, however, the aiport can support light aircraft, helicopters and small lear jets. The nearerst international airport is located in Saskatoon. Ground TransportationGreyhound Canada provides daily bus service to various Canadian destinations. Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) provides frequent daily service between Saskatoon and Regina and many points throughout the province. The bus depot is located at 2691 98th Street. Cab/Taxi ServiceCrown Cab services the Battlefords and area. They also offer a wheelchair accessible van and car wash open 24 hours. Their office is located at 1072 - 102nd Street North Battleford.
